The information below provides guidance on the sort of services I can offer, but I am happy to consider bespoke projects. Estimates will be provided when the instrument has been examined, but as rough guidance, a check-over or running repair is likely to start at £40, an annual service will start at £120 and a complete overhaul will be at least £240.
Check-over/running repair: • Diagnosis of a problem and its correction; this could be replacement of a pad, spring, cork or felt or regulation of keys to ensure the correct functioning of the instrument.
Annual service: • Disassemble the instrument and strip down all key work; • replace faulty pads, springs, corks and felts; • clean and polish bodywork and keys; • check and straighten keywork as required; • oil the bore; • reassemble and regulate the instrument.
Complete overhaul: • Disassemble the instrument and strip down all key work; • replace all pads, corks and felts and replace springs as required; • clean and polish bodywork and keys; • check and straighten keywork as required; • check and anchor pillars as necessary; • oil the bore; • reassemble and regulate the instrument.
